The major domains of the earth are as follows:

  1. Lithosphere
  2. Hydrosphere
  3. Atmosphere
  4. Biosphere

Lithosphere

Lithosphere is the solid portion of the earth that contains mountain, Hills, plain area etc. It contains all the continents of the world.

There are total seven continents in the world, which are as follows:

  1. Asia
  2. Africa
  3. North America
  4. South America
  5. Antarctica
  6. Europe
  7. Australia

Asia

Asia is the largest continent in the world the majority of people live in Asia it is also connected with Europe.This combination of Europe and Asia together is known as Eurasia.

Africa

Africa is the second-largest continent in the world. The worlds largest desert Sahara is located here.

North America

North America is the third largest continent in the world. It is connected to South America by a narrow channel of land known as the Isthmus of Panama.

South America

It is the fourth largest continent in the world. The biggest Amazon river is found here.

Antarctica

It is the fifth-largest continent in the world it contains glaciers and is covered with snow round the year. It is located entirely in the southern hemisphere.

Europe

It is the sixth-largest continent in the world that is connected with Asia, which is also known as Eurasia.

Australia

It is the seventh-largest continent in the world which is entirely located in the southern hemisphere.

Hydrosphere

Only 3% of the Earths surface is land and the rest 97% is water out of which only 2.5% water is fit for human use. This is why Earth is also called the blue planet. The majority portion of water is found in the oceans the four major oceans in the world are as follows:

  1. The Pacific Ocean
  2. The Atlantic ocean
  3. The Indian Ocean
  4. The Arctic Ocean

Atmosphere

The layer of gas surrounding the earth is called the atmosphere. It contains 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, and 0.03% Carbon dioxide. The major layers of the atmosphere are as follows:

  1. Troposphere
  2. Stratosphere
  3. Mesosphere
  4. Thermosphere
  5. Exosphere

Biosphere

It is the place where the lithosphere, Hydrosphere, and Atmosphere met with each other that makes life possible on earth. Every organism depends on each other for its survival. For example, plants use carbon dioxide and release oxygen whereas humans use oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
