Ans: The four Cardinal directions are East, West, North, and South.
(c) What do you mean by the term ‘the scale of the map’?
Ans: Scale is the ratio between the actual distance on the ground and the distance represented on the map.
(d) How are maps more helpful than a globe?
Ans: Map is useful than globe because it contains more information about a particular country, state, or area. For example, it may contain a popular place, a famous river, or a tower in a particular area.
(e) Distinguish between a map and a plan.
Ans: A map represents the area of the Earth on a flat surface using the scale whereas a plan is a map of a small area, building, or house that shows its length and breadth.
(f) Which map provides detailed information?
Ans: A Large-scale map provide detailed information about cities, towns, villages, etc.
(g) How do symbols help in reading maps?
Ans: Symbols are used in a map to represent a specific building, post office, School, Hospital, Roadways, and Railways etc that makes it easy for a person to find their way.
