Ans: Animals need sense organs to locate food, communicate with each other, find a safe place to live and protect themselves from danger.

Ans: Preying birds use their eyes to locate their food. Their eyeballs are 11 mm bigger than human’s eyeballs.

3. How do animals that live in water taste things?

Ans: Some animals that live in water have taste buds in their mouth while others have on their fins and skin that help them taste things in water.

4. Explain the different ways of communication in animals.

Ans: Different ways of communication in animals are as follows:

  1. Birds use different calls to communicate with their flock members.
  2. Chimpanzees greed each other by touching their hands.
  3. Dogs express themselves by howling, growling and barking.
  4. Apes communicate through different symbols.

5. Why do animals need to sleep?

Ans: Sleep is the basic necessity for most of the animals. Just like humans, animals also feel tired if they do not get adequate sleep.
