1. In this chapter you have read that health is a wider concept that illness. Look at this quote from the Constitution and explain the term ‘living standard’ and ‘public health’ in your own words.
Ans: “living standard” and “public health” both are interrelated. Public health means that every citizen of India must have equal opportunity to access the health care services at low price so that they can be treated as soon as possible.
If the health of country’s people is good, they can easily improve their living standard. A healthy person can work to earn a livelihood that increases his living standard over time.
Whereas, an unhealthy person can’t work to earn a livelihood and he won’t be able to improve his living standard.
Even the role of government is very important in “public health” and “living standard”. Government can take necessary steps to disinfect the disease prone areas, also they can setup health centers at every village to made health care facility easily accessible to everyone.

As per the table given above it clearly states that public health care services need upgradation. Although, public sector provide health facility at low cost or sometimes for free but they’re not easily access in both rural area and urban areas.
The private health care service is available on in urban areas however they provide very expensive treatment.
4. Improvement in water and sanitation can control many diseases. Explain with the help of examples.
Ans: Many diseases are directly related with water. Clean and easily accessible drinking water can prevent many water borne diseases. Sanitation is also important because it can prevent many diseases which are spread by the houseflies, mosquitoes etc.
