Resource: A resource is a substance that is useful for us. Example: Soil, coal and petroleum. There are two types of resources:
Exhaustible resource: These resources are very limited in nature. They are exhausted in one use. Example: coal and petroleum
Inexhaustible resource: These resources are unlimited in nature. They cannot be exhausted in one use. We can use them again and again. Example: solar energy and wind energy.
Coal is a black carbonic substance, which is used for cooking food. It was also used as fuel in earlier train engines. Nowadays, it is used in thermal power plants to generate electricity. The coal is formed under high pressure and temperature. This process takes almost millions of years.
It is a black, tough, and porous material. It is the pure form of carbon, which is used in the manufacturing of steel and extraction of various metals.
It is a black, thick liquid, which is used in the manufacturing of various materials such as drugs, explosives, synthetic dyes etc.
Coal gas is obtained in the process of coal to get coke. Coal gas is used as a industrial fuel.
Petroleum is formed under the sea from the dead bodies of sea animals that were buried millions of years ago. Petroleum is also called crude oil and it is used to obtained petrol, diesel, kerosene, LPG etc.
It is a petroleum refining plant that helps to obtain petrol, diesel etc from petroleum.
Natural gas is also a fossil fuel which is found on the top layer of petroleum. It is easily transported through pipelines. It is also stored in the compressed form knows as CNG. Also, it is a clean fuel.
