Resource:

Substance that can has usability is called resources. Example of resources: paper, coal, and petroleum.

 Value:

Value refers to the worth of a substance. Some substances have economic values i.e. they can be bought and sold for money.

Types of resources:

There are two types of resources:

  1. Natural resources
    1. Renewable resources
    2. Non-renewable resources
  2. Human made resources

Natural resources: The resources that are found in nature are called natural resources. Example: Wood, coal and petroleum.

            Renewable resources: The natural resources that are renewed are called renewable resources. We can use them over and over again. Example: sunlight, wind and water.

            Non-renewable resources: The natural resources that are not renewed easily and took many years for formation are called non-renewable resources. Example: coal and petroleum.

 Man made resources: The resources developed by humans are called man made resources. Example: Bridge, road, railway track, building etc.

Human as a resource

People are also considered as resources because they can create more resources using their skills and knowledge. Human are the most valuable resource in the world. Good education and better health improve the quality of human resource.

Conservation of resources:

The conservation is resources is very important because we heavily depend on them. We should use resources when it is necessary. Example: We should turn off the engine at the red light, we should turn off all the appliance when not using them.

Sustainable development:

It refers to the use of current resources in present time in such a way that the future generation can also use them.
